Today's Forecast

We are starting to see some showers build in from the west from Birmingham, AL to following I-16 and then down towards Savannah, GA. These showers, in combination with daytime heating and very high humidities, will result in a slight chance of thunderstorms later this afternoon. Another factor is if we have very high temperatures and heat index values. If they get above 110°F for a long period of time, we could see some thunderstorms pop up along the sea breeze boundary. However, the biggest chance of rain will be tommorrow, Friday, and then on Saturday.

Saturday is looking like the biggest chance of strong thunderstorms to develop because of the abundant moisture in the atmosphere and high CAPE values.

In the tropics, everything is looking very quiet. The one exception is the tropical wave that is going through the lesser Antilles. This has literally no chance for development because of high shear values. Otherwise, there is no immediate threat of tropical development.
