Anvil Shaped Thunderstorm

Local Doppler (Live & On Your Side) and the Skidaway Island Pinpoint Doppler showed an anvil shaped thunderstorm in 3-D mode. This three dimensional mode can help us look at thunderstorms in a true "real shape" perspective. We can see hail cores before they impact the ground or before a tornado touches down. In addition, we get weather warnings (including Tornado, Severe Thunderstorm, and Flashflood Warnings) atleast 10 seconds before NOAA Weather Radios are sent the warnings. And in a severe weather situation, 10 seconds can save lives. This helps us keep you ahead of the storm.

Anyway, here are pictures from Local Doppler (Live & On Your Side) radar. Notice how the cloud looks like an anvil. This is a classic characteristic of a thunderstorm, more commonly a severe thunderstorm.
